In his own words

I'm an award winning children's author. I've been writing for nearly 30 years. In that time I have written nineteen novels for young people. My books are on sale throughout the UK, the US, Europe, Japan, South America and China.

I've worked as a series editor for Macmillan and Stanley Thornes and as an editor for The Literary Consultancy, Writers' Workshop and Adventures In Fiction. I'm currently a mentor on the Arts Council-funded Apprenticeships in Fiction scheme, which exists to develop new literary talent and I've had considerable experience discovering and developing authors.

I am Programme Director for Creative Writing on the Cambridge University Pembroke/Kings Summer Programme.
